Responsibilities
  • Handle claims from FNOL to close in multiple claims systems, including initial call, the coordination with breach counsel, forensic investigators and other vendors
  • Handle litigation and third party liability claims arising from security failures or data breaches, and claims involving media, privacy, and tech E&O liability. This will include full evaluation of liability, recommendation of actions to litigation counsel and carrier partners, reserving recommendation and reasoning, and alternative dispute resolution
  • Under minimal supervision, conducts thorough analysis and investigations necessary to determine claims exposure and recommend appropriate settlement strategies and action plans
  • Ongoing and accurate file documentation/information in our claims systems
  • Assess liability and exposure in complex claims while maintaining appropriate documentation for compliance purposes
  • Identify and evaluate insurance coverage issues (third and first party)
  • Create reservation of rights and coverage denial letters
  • Identify settlement opportunities to maximize impact
  • Interact extensively with various parties involved in the claims process, and may recommend retaining the advice of outside experts as necessary
  • Prepare reserve and settlement authority requests for client and carrier approval
  • May act as a client advocate with carriers to ensure proper claims handling, including any necessary scoping, estimating, and addressing of coverage
  • Have a solid understanding of claims processing and the insurance brokerage business
  • Have a basic understanding of the terminology and case law associated with their specialized claims niche/industry
  • Handle claims consistent with clients' and corporate policies, procedures and best practices and also in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethical requirements
  • Effectively communicate with clients when authority is needed and document file accordingly
  • Incumbents at this level should be able to work at full case load capacity with minimal supervision
  • Learn and navigate multiple claims systems for various programs

Qualifications
  • High school diploma and 5 years related claims experience required.
  • Prior experience working within the applicable specialty claims area or demonstrated ability to handle unique/challenging claims issues.
  • Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements.
  • Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
  • Computer experience with related claims and business software.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years related Cyber Claims experience required
  • Juris Doctorate highly preferred
  • Licensing in home state, California and New York, or the ability to obtain these licenses and other necessary licenses within 60 days of employment
  • Superior written analysis
  • Ability to work in multiple client systems and prioritize competing demands
  • Dedication to delivering exceptional service to our clients and their policyholders
