Job Title: Senior Claims Manager

Position Overview:

The Senior Claims Manager is responsible for leading a team of adjusters and managers and providing specialized technical management and analytical views to continuously improve the claims experience. The Senior Claims Manager provides vision, oversight, direction, and overall management of Grange Insurance Association’s Material Damage claims handling.

  • Oversee management of daily operations and direct file quality for Material Claims Representatives, ensuring workload balance among team members and quality of service to our customers.
  • Identify and monitor high severity and/or complex Material Damage claims. Participate in handling, reserving, and resolution discussions in roundtable settings and through daily interactions with claims staff.
  • Work with independent service providers to effect prompt and accurate resolution of claims which may include casualty, auto and/or catastrophe claims.
  • Develop and nurture business relationships with agents, policyholders, claimants, claims service providers and Claims team to facilitate accurate, prompt claims resolution.
  • Analyze data and results and develop solutions to improve performance.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain quality assurance in material damage claims through the audit process.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, identifying and utilizing metrics to evaluate performance; coaching, counseling, and providing performance management; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Material Damage Manager, Material Damage Adjusters, Estimate Auditors and Total Loss Adjusters report to this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years prior experience handling a combination of auto damage, total loss, and liability claims and/or training and 5 years of management experience; experience may substitute for education.
  • Auto estimating experience is required.
  • Experience in leading teams to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives.
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis.
  • Strong customer service orientation, including internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance contracts with a heavy emphasis in property lines.
  • Working proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with regulations for WA, CA, OR, ID, CO and WY is preferred.
