Job description

Have you ever wanted to be part of a team who is building industry changing technology? Amazon's Project Kuiper is long-term initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing strategy, negotiating agreements and statements of work, foundational knowledge of Military SATCOM needs, U.S. Government satellite communication, National Security Space (NSS) systems, and DoD and Intelligence Community space programs involving GEO, MEO, and proliferated LEO (P-LEO) satellite and ground systems, and related systems used for secure government networking of SATCOM data.
Key job responsibilities
• Use industry and relevant data analysis, create and strategic sourcing plans for a technology, business unit, department, or project to help internal customers meet their goals.
• Design a compliant Supply Chain to meet government customer needs.
• Develop a manufacturing approach which meets government customer needs.
• Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations.
• Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture, and follow-up activity coordination.
• Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and Supply Chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others.
• Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and leverage industry developments that benefit Amazon's customers.
• Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable supply while complying with relevant government guidelines.
• Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals.
• Evaluate and monitor financial health of critical suppliers.
• Conduct Supply Chain Risk Management analysis supporting KGS requirements associated with U.S. Government customers.
• Solve complex technical problems related to improvements to the Kuiper program for government users.
• Lead Supply chain discussions, ask probing questions, and work with the team to pull together scoping, schedules, and solutions to issues.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to peers and leadership on the plans, status, and critical issues.
• Demonstrate leadership and ability to navigate through complex problems, weighing various priorities and options, and managing trades studies and constraints.
Export Control Requirements: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
The Kuiper team is looking for a government sourcing and manufacturing leader to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, on Kuiper objectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environment.
• 5+ years of direct experience in supplier/Supply Chain management.
• 5+ years of experience in sourcing, manufacturing or related disciplines specific to Final Assembly, Testing, and Packing business with CM/JDM/ODM in high technology industry.
• 5+ years of direct experience in technology procurement, spacecraft manufacturing, Category Sourcing or related Supply Chain experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with DoD/IC/NASA space architecture and ground systems.
• Global Supply Chain experience managing cross functional teams in a fast pace consumer electronics product company to support government needs.
• Curious to learn in depth about both technology and our customers
• A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone.
• An effective multi-tasker who navigates a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with grace and efficiency.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
