Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sr. Buyer is responsible for all sourcing and purchasing for a wide variety of aerospace components, raw materials, and tooling in the most cost-effective manner. The role is required to hold all Airbus A350 assigned suppliers accountable to quality standards, on-time delivery, and cost containment.
What you will be doing:
- Evaluate quotations and place Purchase Orders for products and services in a timely manner
- Responsible for proactively tracking critical orders and follow-up on open orders
- Execute expediting as needed and manage existing orders
- Work with the planning department to efficiently place or modify Purchase Orders to meet project schedule demands
- Submit RFQs to support bids and projects for Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Maintenance
- Reconcile and rectify all non-conformances with suppliers while maintaining original due dates or acceptable recovery dates
- Ensure all product documentation is reviewed and accurate
- Accurately manage cost data and vendor capacity to give best recommendations for supplier selection
- Drive risk mitigation by dual sourcing critical parts from multiple suppliers
What you need to qualify:
- 5+ years' experience as a buyer in a fast-paced Aerospace Industry environment
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Strong negotiation skills to reduce costs and delivery times with suppliers
- Ability to perform multiple tasks while under pressure in meeting internal /external requirements
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T engineering drawings
- Proficiency with MRP systems along with a good understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Knowledge and experience of Supply Chain concepts to improve internal processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office Excel, Word, and Access
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Action and results oriented
- CPIM preferred but not required
