Senior Buyer
Position Type: Full-time, permanent placement position
Our team at The Recruiting Pros is conducting a search for a Sr. Buyer on behalf of a world-class, innovative manufacturer in Monroe, NC. In this role you will collaborate with colleagues in production, operations and logistics as well as with domestic and overseas factories, suppliers and manufacturers. Your work week will include a mix of purchasing and planning to adequately manage inventory levels, the order process, correctly assess lead times, minimize excess inventory with the goal of securing products to meet customer demands. Your expertise in planning, purchasing, inventory management and S&OP will make you successful in this role.
Routine responsibilities will require you to:
- Procure all goods and materials required to produce equipment as well as MRO materials.
- Use Bill of Materials (“BOM”) from the Engineering department to determine purchasing requirements.
- Monitor the receipt of all items on the BOM, work with suppliers to monitor past due goods/materials, minimize potential delays.
- Create accurate and complete purchase orders including cost, quality, delivery, etc.
- Ensure delivery dates are accurately tracked, expedite orders as required.
- Manage vendors by maintaining professional, productive, and beneficial relationships.
- Maintain inventory levels that allow for timely delivery.
- Work with finance to ensure accurate job reporting related to purchased materials.
- Obtain fluency on the EPICOR MRP system.
- Purchase stock inventory items and spare parts inventory as directed.
- Manage the ownership of the RFQ process to support vendor selections; issue RFQs with drawings, if applicable.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal partners (sales, production, operations, logistics) about changes, updates, expectations and related topics on a clear and timely basis.
- Ensures all delivery information is documented in the database on a timely basis.
- Recommend modifications to existing policies and procedures as they relate to purchasing.
- Assist with ERP migration, offer suggestions and recommendations on functionality and add-ons.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in area of Business, Finance or Supply Chain; APICS Certification considered a plus.
- 5+ years experience in a purchasing/procurement role purchasing raw materials in a manufacturing environment required.
- Intermediate to advanced level of Microsoft Excel required.
- Proficient user of ERP systems (EPICOR is strongly preferred) required.
- Experience managing Material Master Data
- Working knowledge of production planning, inventory management, inventory level setting, service level setting, and optimization goals including BOM’s
- Experience managing long lead times, from 6 to 12 months.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional departments maintaining a team-focused attitude.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service.
- Highly organized.
