Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to take on the critical role of planning, selecting, and procuring materials from domestic sources for the production and manufacturing of our products. Your expertise will be instrumental in utilizing our ERP system and various tools to meticulously track and manage materials throughout their journey, emphasizing cost savings and maintaining precise sourcing parameters.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement:
- Source components from suppliers across responsible categories, particularly focusing on sheet metal and domestically sourced raw materials.
- Evaluate inventory levels and initiate purchase orders to suppliers.
- Keep sourcing parameters in the system up to date for efficient planning.
- Develop and implement a streamlined system for monitoring open purchase orders.
- Stay informed about the latest pricing trends to negotiate optimal purchase prices.
Vendor Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts at the desired quantity and quality.
- Effectively communicate quality, service, and regulatory compliance requirements to suppliers.
- Monitor and assess supplier performance through audits, scorecards, and regular meetings/visits.
- Maintain an updated approved supplier list.
- Establish a logistical network for standard and expedited freight shipments.
- Ensure vendor quality folders are current with certificates and compliance documents.
Departmental Support and Project Leadership:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing support for engineering, product development, sales, and marketing in various projects.
- Lead cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.
- Participate actively in the annual physical inventory.
- Offer backup support to other buyers as required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in procurement and buying roles (5 + years of experience).
- Proficient in using ERP systems and various procurement tools.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving cost savings.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field. A combination of education and applicable experience will be considered.
Additional Info:
- Pay range: $80,000 and $95,000 + 10% annual bonus.
- Schedule: standard business hours around 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday
- Location: 100% onsite in Fridley
- Type: Direct hire w/ FULL benefits
