Position Overview:
Genovo Inc. is an emerging biotech company located in San Diego. We aim to improve the health of individuals and the community by "translating" biomedical findings into diagnostic tools by using a multi-disciplinary, highly collaborative, "bench-to-bedside" approach.
As a Business Development Consultant for our pioneering cancer diagnostics company, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and fostering strategic collaborations within the biopharmaceutical industry, universities, research institutes, and tool-making companies. Your primary responsibility will be to identify, negotiate, and establish partnerships that align with our company's goals and contribute to advancing cancer diagnostics technologies. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and industry expertise to drive impactful collaborations and ultimately accelerate our mission of improving cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partnership Development: Lead the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of potential collaboration opportunities with biopharma, universities, research institutes, and research tool companies.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, scientists, and decision-makers, to facilitate productive collaborations.
- Deal Structuring and Negotiation: Drive the negotiation and execution of partnership agreements, including licensing agreements, research collaborations, joint ventures, and co-development agreements.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential opportunities for strategic partnerships.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, legal, and finance, to align partnership strategies with business objectives and ensure successful implementation.
- Technical Expertise: Leverage your understanding of cancer biology, diagnostics technologies, and industry trends to effectively communicate our company's value proposition and capabilities to potential partners.
- Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and scientific meetings to enhance our visibility, build credibility, and foster new partnership opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in life sciences, oncology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Business Development, strategic alliances, or partnership management within the biopharmaceutical or diagnostics industry, with a proven track record of successfully negotiating and executing complex collaborations.
- Deep understanding of cancer biology, diagnostics technologies, and the drug development process, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A strong network of contacts within the biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and research organizations, with a demonstrated ability to establish and nurture relationships at all levels.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic, and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive consensus among internal and external stakeholders and navigate complex decision-making processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
