We are looking for a team player with experience in modeling disease through complex in vitro methods to join our Ophthalmology Research group. The candidate will be part of a team committed to tackling challenging scientific problems to discover new medicines for vision-threatening diseases and enjoy collaboration and critical thinking. The candidate will lead and contribute to implementing strategies for discovering and validating targets in ophthalmology. The candidate will participate in a team of scientists to lead various activities, including target identification/validation approaches and drug discovery using in vitro, in vivo, or multi-omics methodologies to evaluate pharmacology in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders/experts. The candidate will be a hands-on experimentalist capable of leading scientific projects. Emphasis is on performing hands-on work successfully, demonstrating scientific leadership skills, and interacting in a team environment. The candidate will assist in the development of in vitro models as well as plan and conduct in vitro cell-based assays to screen novel drugs. Prior experience in cell-based screening assays, and complex in vitro models (iPSC-derived cells, co-culture, organoids) is an asset. In addition, the candidate should have a strong track record of cross-functional collaborations along with excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Research and understand relevant target/disease biology; design and implement experimentation to validate hypotheses.
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Active participation in program/project team meetings.
- Provide critical technical evaluation of program research activities. Issue technical reports for internal distribution.
- Prepare presentations and represent the group to cross-functional teams.
- Maintain awareness of current developments in the field through comprehensive reading and analysis of the literature and attendance at appropriate scientific meetings
Qualifications
YOU BRING:
- Ph.D. education in a relevant biological discipline (e.g., pharmacology, neuroscience, ophthalmology, immunology, biochemistry) or MS with 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the fields of Glaucoma, Ophthalmology, Fibrosis or Neuroscience is desired
- Experience with in vitro and in vivo functional assays and the application of these techniques to pharmacological studies required.
- Experience in cell-based retinal ganglion cell (RGC) model, Lamina cribrosa (LC), or glial cells, is highly desired.
- Experience in multi-omics study design and execution, such as SnRNA seq, ScRNA seq and spatial transcriptomics is preferred.
- Experience in bioinformatic analysis, IPA or equivalent is highly desired
- Strong scientific skills with the ability to collaborate with project team members.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

- The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
