We're searching for a Senior Backend Engineer, reporting to the Director, AI & Machine Learning who will help people worldwide to smile more, building novel solutions to problems never before solved.
Responsibilities- Enjoy what you work on and how you work on it, and care that people on your team feel the same way. We believe that this is the best way to achieve great results for everybody.
- Deploying models to production
- Building infrastructure to proficiently and cost-effectively run them there.
- The items here might be as different as choosing a technology to run computation (e.g lambda vs batch), choosing proper instance type for a workload, or hacking third-party libraries to support custom data types
- Currently we are on AWS; using Batch, Lambda, S3, built with Python and Terraform/TypeScript Terraform CDK.
- Writing back-end services to integrate AI solutions with company infrastructure This might include writing BFF for a customer facing mobile app or handling some business event from another bounded context (Currently DDD, Python, AWS).
- Tech Stack: Python, PyTorch and friends, Docker, AWS, TypeScript Terraform CDK
- Ability to quickly learn what is necessary to get stuff done
- Sense of beauty in engineering (ok to replace "beauty" with "simple")
- Emotional Intelligence
- Preference to work in a team (group of people with shared vision). We believe that TEAM=PRODUCT
Technical skills:
- Fluent in Python. TypeScript knowledge is a plus.
- Program well (No problems expressing your ideas in code)
- Good engineering habits ("I'm not a great programmer; I'm just a good programmer with great habits." - Kent Beck)
- General knowledge of Terraform. (We would love it if you could implement a feature up to the final deployment without handovers). We find Terraform CDK to have better ergonomics for us then plain Terraform.
- Some working knowledge of containers.
- Some SRE stuff about system monitoring and alerting (we use Datadog)
- Knowledge of common back-end technologies (databases, queues)
- Some knowledge of Machine Learning (helpful, but not necessary)
