Senior Internal Auditor
Canandaigua National Bank & Trust

Location: Pittsford, NY (Hybrid Position)

What does a Senior Internal Auditor do?

A Senior Auditor at Canandaigua National Bank (CNB) is responsible for evaluating operational procedures, risk management, control functions and governance processes across the bank. The Audit function acts independently and reports to the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board of Directors, the governing body responsible for oversight of Internal Audit.

A Senior Auditor is responsible for compiling and presenting audit reports and findings to key personnel within the organization. With subject matter acumen and professional audit experience, this position makes recommendations to management to improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. Internal Auditors at CNB provide risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight while adding value to CNB’s operations. What competencies are needed to be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Finance, Business, Economics, or Accounting. Equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of audit experience.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor Certification) designation strongly preferred (or in progress).
  • Comprehension of internal audit standards, generally accepted accounting principles, Sarbanes–Oxley/FDICIA, COSO and risk assessment practices.
  • Familiar with a variety of audit concepts, practices, and procedures; knowledge of safety and soundness and internal control processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret, analyze and report information.
  • Proficient writing and grammar skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with a PC and associated programs (such as Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to build relationships with departments and levels within the organization.
  • Ability to learn quickly and independently handle assignments in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.


What does a successful first year in this position look like?

  • Complete assigned audits, analyze audit findings, determine exceptions, prepare reports, and discuss findings.
  • Prepare audit report, which includes procedures or policies in violation and recommendations for corrective action and presents reports to Audit Manager.
  • Delegate sections of procedures to staff, direct staff during field work, review completed field work for accuracy and completion. Resolve problems as necessary.
  • Build relationships with a variety of departments and managers
  • Gain understanding of banking regulations, laws, and CNB policies & procedures.
  • Able to identify risks within the organization and design testing attributes to evaluate controls.
  • Assist with coaching audit staff members. Provides leadership and training to fellow team members.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
