Senior Audit Officer

First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Senior Audit Officer to join our Audit Division. This role will be under the general direction of the Chief Audit Executive and reports to the VP & Senior Audit Manager. The Senior Audit Officer will work as part of a team to plan, execute and conduct internal audits covering financial, operational, wealth management, and compliance areas, partnering closely with audit team members and business stakeholders, and communicating the audit results to management. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of curiosity, as well as analytical skills to recognize process improvement opportunities for both the business units and the Audit Division.
The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this role is $59,509 - $103,168/yr; commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1.) Assist the VP & Senior Audit Manager with setting and managing expectations for the completion of Internal Audit assignments

• Lead audit planning exercises, process walkthroughs and the execution of audit test procedures designed to determine the operating effectiveness of internal controls
• Assess and articulate the adequacy of the overall control environment, effectiveness of risk mitigation practices and governance framework
• Complete and maintain documentation evidencing the results of the audit, communication and discussion with management and remediation performed for any identified issues

2.) Lead the execution of independent testing of internal controls (SOX 404)

• Lead financial process walkthroughs
• Execute audit test procedures to determine the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls
• Document and maintain results of testing

Work Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM (hours may vary); hybrid work option available
The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related business field; or equivalent work experience required
• Five years of audit experience or equivalent required
• Technical and audit certifications such as CIA, CAMS, CAFP, CRCM, CFE or CPA are desired
• Must have strong understanding of risk and controls and of the audit process to effectively perform and document audit tests, analyze results, and communicate audit findings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn other business and audit software
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong critical, analytical, problem solving, decision making and follow-through skills
• Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to present issues to management and establish credibility
• Strong time management skills; able to handle multiple projects and competing deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively and efficiently on assigned teams
• Strong business acumen
• Interest in data analytics for use within the Audit function to assist with analyzing risk and business issues and generating efficiencies throughout the audit process
