The Therapeutics Development and Supply, Biologics - Analytical Development (AD) group is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to support our dynamic Process Analytical Sciences (PAS) team. The experienced and motivated Senior Associate Scientist will be responsible for providing leadership and support for analytical laboratory instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct execution of separation-based analytical assays for biologics drug development to quantify purity, size variants, excipient content, charge variants, etc.
  • Thrive in a dynamic team setting, contribute technical expertise to multiple large molecule programs, be proficient with documentation, and review of analytical data.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills combined with technical, writing, and organizational skills as well as demonstrate attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Address complex problems through data analysis requiring strong process knowledge and in-depth evaluation of multiple variables.
  • Engage in a matrixed team environment and provide mentorship to other lab personnel.
  • Partner with various J&J collaborator groups, such as the API, DPD&D, LMAD, and Discovery, to ensure adoption and implementation of process improvements for the preparation of biologics for routine testing.
  • Serve as instrument owner and manage equipment qualifications and maintenance.
  • Complete all electronic lab notebooks, GMP, and safety training as required in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience OR a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant work experience is required.

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong background in CE-SDS and knowledge of laboratory automation techniques is required.
  • Experience with multiple separation-based technologies (e.g., HPLC, cIEF, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to be innovative and bring forward new ideas for discussion is preferred.
  • Ability to creatively address technical problems while meeting project timelines is preferred.
  • Ability to work with limited guidance to plan, complete, and follow through studies is preferred.
  • Excellence in troubleshooting and routine instrument maintenance is preferred.

Other:

  • This role is based in Malvern and may require up to 10% domestic and international travel.
