Overview:
BW&A is a commercial real estate investment, development, and tax credit consulting firm that facilitates real estate and Renewable Energy development as well as business expansion projects throughout the U.S. To date, we have overseen or provided capital for projects totaling over $4 billion in capital deployed. The company is seeking to hire a passionate and ambitious individual with entrepreneurial spirit to play a key role in our firm’s ongoing expansion in impact investing.
The Senior Associate will help oversee our Renewable Energy team which concentrates in three primary areas. First, we source, analyze, and manage tax equity investments and credit transfers for investor clients. Second, we are seeking to invest in Renewable Energy projects. Third, we are pursuing development of Renewable Energy facilities as a firm and through collaboration with other solar project development companies. Our work in climate finance is growing fast, and we are continuously seeking new ways to add value to Renewable Energy projects. We are looking for a passionate team member who believes in our triple-bottom-line impact investing thesis and is similarly motivated by the historical opportunity to generate income while improving the planet.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
· Work directly with firm’s principals managing all stages of existing projects and investments. Responsibilities include financial analysis and modeling throughout the project life-cycle, including potential new opportunities; project management of new or existing consulting engagements; and cultivation of firm’s client and investor relationships
· Coordinate/manage underwriting and closing process, including review/analysis of due-diligence
· Perform a multitude of business development functions, and contribute to the firm’s future business strategy planning
· Preparation of investment memos and presentations for potential clients and investors
· Represent the firm in its interactions with prospective and existing clients, investors, and third-parties, including attorneys/accountants/consultants
· Support Renewable Energy development activities which may include attending construction meetings, interaction with local and state officials and prospective purchasers and investors
· Conduct site visits at prospective and existing projects (some travel may be required)
Required qualifications: Candidates must be self-motivated with a proven ability to utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong quantitative acumen. Organizational and interpersonal skills are a must, as is a strong proficiency in MS Excel and related Office applications, with at least 3 years’ post-undergraduate experience in renewable with a strong preference for investment banking, private equity, or institutional investing, and/or renewables finance. Candidates must have experience within the Renewable Energy industry in the context of investing in projects and/or development companies. The ideal candidate will have renewables-focused experience spanning both corporate and project/structured finance, including tax equity and debt underwriting.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
· Background in Renewable Energy or real estate finance, development, investing, transactions, and a working knowledge of tax credit programs (historic tax credits, low-income housing tax credits, Renewable Energy investment tax credits, new markets tax credits)
· Strong understanding of tax credit transactions and legal documentation
· Understanding of partnership tax returns
· Ability to analyze financial statements
· Ability to learn new systems, databases, and terminology
· Highly detail oriented, organization, and communication skills with strong critical thinking ability
· Strong computer skills in managing documents, files, and process/procedure management skills
· Excellent time management skills, communication skills, and strong analytical & problem-solving skills
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
· Strong communication with internal partners as well as owners/developers, investors, attorneys, and accountants
· Self-Starter; must be able to work independently and contribute to team goals
Strong Preference for in-person office in Arlington, Virginia (Washington, DC metro) with possible location in Richmond, Virginia or Roanoke, Virginia and may consider remote for the right candidate
