H/L is currently seeking a trailblazing senior-level Art Director with 5-7 years of experience to join our dynamic team. This position is open to remote or hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate.
As a Senior Art Director at H/L, you will play a crucial role in shaping the conceptual core of our agency alongside our “Makers Team,” consisting of Copywriters, Designers, Directors, Cinematographers, Editors, and Motion Graphic Artists. We’re looking for both a hands-on maker and patient mentor in collaborative conceptual team situations, who will bring a keen artistic vision and a passion for translating concepts into visually stunning campaigns. With your teammates, you will be responsible for defining the visual direction and aesthetic of our brands across various engagements. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on creation, allowing you to influence the artistic direction and actively contribute to the production of projects across multiple platforms. What You'll Do:- You’ll create campaigns for TV, social/digital, websites, etc. along with non-traditional and other forms of advertising
- You'll collaborate with your partner, a Copywriter, and the broader team to maintain a high standard of creative work
- You’ll draw upon your comprehensive understanding of the latest and most pertinent trends across all forms of media
- You’ll develop unique and innovative concepts that effectively convey the clients’ message and captures the audiences’ attention
- You have demonstrated abilities to understand clients‘ needs, manage expectations, and address feedback and concerns with respect and professionalism
- You will take the driver’s seat during production phases, directing teams of designers, illustrators, animators, engineers, and production partners to bring conceptualized ideas to life
- You have at least 5-7 years of agency (or equivalent) experience in advertising or digital production
- You embrace diversity by listening to others, valuing their contributions, and being receptive to new ideas
- You have demonstrated abilities to effectively communicate with, and present to clients
- You have experience in the social space and content creation
- You have the ability to create storyboards and conceptualize ideas
- You have a meticulous attention to detail to ensure visual elements of a campaign align with the creative concept
- You are a creative program solver
- You are comprehensively knowledgeable of digital design and multimedia platforms
- You have the ability to effectively articulate your creative vision and provide constructive feedback
- You are proficient with industry-standard software in a Mac environment
- Knowledge of automotive and quick-service restaurant categories is highly preferred
- A degree from an accredited portfolio school or university creative program is a plus, but this is really all about your portfolio and reel
- You have a Bachelor’s degree

For SF Bay Area/CA based: H/L offers projected salary range for a position as an estimate of what the company believes is a reasonable pay scale. The actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on various factors, including the job’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s qualifications, budget availability within the department, internal pay equity, geographic location, and external market pay rates for similar positions. The salary range for this position is expected to be between $95,000 – $120,000 per year.
