POSITION SUMMARY

Imagine working on archival collections for major corporations and sports teams, fashion and luxury brands, and non-profits – all under one roof and as part of a cross-functional team of people developing new ways to access and use heritage. From processing and cataloging to digital asset management and web-based portals, Heritage Werks is a full-service company focused on delivering superior work for an incredible roster of clients.

Heritage Werks is seeking Senior Archivists with exceptional communication and client service skills to join their growing team! Ideal candidates will be experienced in archival processing, have the desire and ability to immerse themselves in clients’ histories getting up to speed quickly, demonstrate the necessary skills to champion recommendations to clients through a consultative approach, and possess prior supervisory experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform archival duties including assessments, installations, intellectually arranging large batches of content, descriptive cataloging, preservation, writing finding aids, creating inventories, and selecting assets for digitization.
  • Manage, plan, recommend, and implement archival best practices for archival collections, developing innovative solutions to meet client’s goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of archivists, archival technicians, and graduate interns, utilizing quality control strategies at regular intervals throughout the project’s duration.
  • Implement collection processing and preservation plans, ensuring the quality of final deliverables including inventories, finding aids, and collection guides.
  • Manage multiple workflows and projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on company and client needs. Develop goals and timelines to organize, schedule, and execute work efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal stakeholders, including the Director of Archival Services and cross-departmental leaders, keeping them apprised of project progress.
  • Respond to research and reference requests to assist clients in accessing content within their collections.
  • Responsible for managing usage and ordering supplies required for projects.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of intellectually arranging archival collections.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A master’s degree in history, library and information science, heritage preservation, or a similar post-secondary degree is required.
  • Must have at least seven (7) years of archival industry experience in a variety of roles.
  • At least three (3) years of experience processing large collections of raw material (300 – 500 sq. ft.) and creating a cohesive collection that meets user needs is also required.
  • Prior management and supervisory experience, leading and mentoring junior staff, while fostering a dynamic workplace environment, is a plus.
  • Prior experience developing constructive and strategic solutions, including project scopes, to a diverse group of clients with unique needs is strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated success in effectively communicating with clients, stakeholders, and team members across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team, along with strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and attentively to meet demanding project deadlines are also critical for this role.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
