We are seeking a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer for our Intelligent Display and Sensors Systems Department. The successful candidate will bring significant expertise in military electronics and avionics systems to our growing team.
This role is responsible for participating in systems, hardware, and software design activities of new development projects for products being developed for use in DoD environments. The Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer will participate and/or take ownership of the Certification efforts and drive requirements analysis activities to include requirements generation, allocation and tracking throughout the development life cycle. This Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer will also contribute to and support organization-wide efforts across disciplined teams in electrical, mechanical, and software technical areas.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate and lead systems developments to align with customer requirements and company goals.
- Provide technical leadership to system architecture definition based on the required functionality.
- Lead and support all phases of assigned project’s engineering lifecycle.
- Interface frequently with customers, technical management, and cross-disciplinary engineers to resolve technical issues, while optimally balancing cost, schedule and technical design integrity.
- Work with system architect to define system diversity, redundancy, etc. to meet requirements, including sourcing subassemblies and working with key vendors
- Develop a plan and lead hands-on in all system and subsystem hardware and hardware/software integration and acceptance testing.
- Lead the DO-254 / DO-178 efforts to achieve project certification and train unfamiliar Systems Engineers to achieve project objectives.
- Lead all project CDRLs as required.
- Mentor and train junior Systems Engineers in generating key deliverables to further develop the in-house knowledge base.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5-8+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
- Work independently to formulate Systems Engineering work products and integrating complex avionics (preferably).
- Hands-on experience in Systems Engineering product life cycle development activities
- Experience in using system engineering processes and procedures. Familiarity with Systems Engineering “V” model
- Hands-on experience with qualification testing per MIL Standards (MIL-STD-704, 810, 461, 464) and or RTCA (DO-160) that covers the expected military customer use environment and operational conditions.
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be willing and able to obtain a Security Clearance or have an active Secret Security Clearance.
The following are a significant plus:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Security Clearance or have an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience or education in applying a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach including tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
- A history and understanding of DO-254 / DO-178 design development.
- Experience with specialized interfaces ARINC-818, ARINC-429, ARINC-661, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-825.
- Strong knowledge and experience with SAE ARP4761, MIL-STD-882E, Joint Software System Safety Handbook (JSSSEH), DO-178B/C, MIL-HDBK-516C, DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, and/or AOP-52.
- Experience conducting a Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Assessment (PHA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Probability of Loss of Aircraft (rollup FTA) analysis, Operating & Support Hazard, or the ARP4754/4761 equivalents.
- Outstanding analytical, problem solving, planning, and abstract thinking skills
- Ability to adapt to fast moving environments with evolving deadlines and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience using DOORS is a plus.
- Experience or background in avionics or military aerospace devices

Pay Range:
$103,000-$160,000
However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
