About the Role
The Senior AP Specialist will be the key responsible individual for the Accounts Payable function at Cockroach Labs. You will contribute to and develop the Accounts Payable infrastructure that the Corporate Accounting team will grow on for years to come. The Senior AP Analyst will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will have the opportunity to participate in the establishment of scalable processes, ensure compliance with policies, and optimize our procure to pay cycle. This role will work extensively with members of other departments and outside vendors. This role offers the unique opportunity to directly impact the growth trajectory of a high growth start up and have significant career growth opportunities.
You Will
The Expectations
In your first 30 days, you will develop a strong understanding of our current processes and organizational structure. You will meet with stakeholders across the organization to better understand how the Corporate Accounting team works with other functions. You will gain a strong understanding of how to operate all Accounts Payable related software and other tools needed for your role. You will start to identify areas for improvement in the account payable operations and processes and make recommendations on how to improve these processes.
In your first 60 days, you will start to own the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function. You will start implementing new processes to address more immediate needs of the Accounting team.
After 90 days, you will have built key relationships so that you are the go-to subject matter expert in your field for all things Accounts Payable.

The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $70,000 to $95,000, plus commission if a sales role. We set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies. About the Role

You Will
- Process invoices and payments and ensure proper coding of expenses in according with US GAAP
- Ensure compliance with all internal procurement and reimbursement policies
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and other manual AP entries for month end close
- Work with vendors and internal departments to ensure seamless onboarding, validation of tax and payment documentation, and response to queries on payment status
- Preparation and filing of annually required tax forms (i.e. 1099s)
- Analyze AP aging reports and provide rationale for unpaid balances
- Provide other operational support to the Accounting team, as needed

You Have
- 3+ years of experience in an Accounts Payable role
- A passion for detail and being organized in a fast paced deadline driven environment with efficient time management
- The ability to communicate effectively across all levels with a customer service mindset and passion about building strong internal and external relationships
- Enjoys working collaboratively on a team while exhibiting strong sense of ownership
- Experience using NetSuite, Coupa, and Navan preferred
- Experience in the technology industry a plus
