Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in our finance department, providing accurate financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining the financial health of our studio company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful information to management about financial performance.
- Perform complex account reconciliations, including bank statements, assets, liabilities, and production, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Work with finance executives to convert financial models to GAAP ultimates, and take ownership of the ongoing accounting process, ensuring accurate forecasting and financial analysis for project lifecycles.
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and prompt collection of accounting statements and payments from clients to achieve the company’s cash projections.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working closely with department heads to understand and manage budget variances.
- Participate in delivering quarterly and annual financial planning and analysis in collaboration with other finance executives, while also contributing to long-term planning and forecasting initiatives for project slates.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Collaborate on special projects aimed at enhancing interdepartmental communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience at a company whose financial statements are prepared and audited for compliance with GAAP (or at a public accounting firm), ideally in the entertainment industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficient in Netsuite and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with accurate results and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual compensation of $75,000 - $85,000.
- Health, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurances (eligible on first full month of employment)
- Eligible for Company matching 401(k) retirement plan, subject to plan terms (eligible 3 months from date of hire).
