Join our winning team as a Senior Accountantin Charleston, Tennessee. Additional locations may include Katy, Texas. In your role as a Senior Accountant, you will perform professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data; apply accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions; and may include any or all of the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries; fixed asset or inventory accounting; preparation of trial balance or financial statements; cost accounting; bank account reconciliation. This is typically a contributing role rather than a developmental position.
Senior Accountant Essential Job Functions:
- Performs General Accounting activities requiring some insight and depth of understanding.
- Applies accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Specifics of the job content will vary to include preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet review and analysis, reporting and other tasks as required for SG&A and supply chain controlling areas.
- Works closely with supply chain and SG&A leadership providing key reporting and ad hoc analysis; may support other stakeholders as assigned.
- Reviews and analyzes cost center spend; provides detailed commentary on variances to leadership.
- Manages stakeholder and internal customer relationships; partners with stakeholders to analyze data and provide sound financial recommendations based on well-established principles and practices.
- BSBA* with full Accounting track/program or BS* Finance or Accounting. Masters in Accounting or MBA preferred. CMA or CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of prior related work experience; General Accounting experience strongly preferred; background experience to include GAAP and SOX policies and procedures, general ledger systems, audit, controls, balance sheet review, tax, intercompany, quarterly reporting, and public accounting preferred..
- Manufacturing/industrial environment preferred; chemical environment strongly preferred.
- Enterprise systems experience preferred; SAP experience strongly preferred; demonstrated Microsoft Office Products experience required.
