Overview:
The Senior Corporate Accountant will assist in the consolidation and reporting of the company’s financial results, ensure the integrity of the accounting information by recording, verifying, reconciling, and consolidating financial data, and will be a key team member in our effort to streamline and automate our financial processes.

Standard Motor Products, Inc. ($1.4 billion, global, NYSE manufacturer/distributor of automotive replacement parts) located in Long Island City, NY.
Primary Activities:
Primary responsibilities of the position would include:
· Responsible for the monthly consolidation and the preparation of various financial statement schedules for both internal and external reporting purposes.
· Assist in the monthly and quarterly close processes, including the review of certain corporate balance sheet accounts and reconciliations, and the preparation of the corporate tax package.
· Responsible for the preparation of certain financial statements, footnotes and MD&A disclosures included in the Company’s Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings with the SEC.
· Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries for the more complex corporate accounts such as the Company’s asbestos liability, health and workers compensation liability, and significant reserves.
· Key member of our automation effort which is focused on identifying opportunities to further enhance, streamline and automate our financial processes. Assist in the implementation of the FCCS Oracle (“Hyperion”) consolidation tool.
· Work with finance team to identify opportunities to utilize the in-house Microsoft Business Intelligence Tool and the full Oracle suite of products including the account reconciliation and project management tool.
· Assist with the annual audit process, including the coordination with the Company’s financial team and external auditors.
· Participation in various special projects, including cross-functional projects with business owners, the information technology group, and senior management.
Experience & Skills:
To function as the Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting the following experience and skills are required:
· Accounting/finance experience of 5-10 years. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA, Masters/MBA, and/or prior experience in a mid-sized public accounting firm a plus.
· Experience with/knowledge of public company reporting requirements and generally accepted accounting standards.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge and experience using the Oracle suite of products including the FCCS consolidation tool (“Hyperion”), Blackline, Workiva, or other similar automation tools.
· Capable of working as a team player and comfortable being part of a “hands on” team of professionals. Strong work ethic a must.
· Ability to exercise proper judgment with above average analytical skills.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
