Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our NY team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and executing various day-to-day AP/AR transactions, financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles/regulations and supporting our fiscal health. You will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting principles, financial concepts, and is proficient in accounting software.
Key Role Responsibilities
- AP/AR: Execute accounts payable and receivable functions including intercompany billings, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations, vendor set up/maintenance
- GL maintenance: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Financial reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing fact based analytics, forecasts, P&L , cash flow projections and monitoring
- Accounting analysis: Perform month end process and monthly account analysis to support revenue and accounts receivable balances
- Budget oversight: Preparation and monitoring of company annual budgets using financial statements, estimated revenues and expenses to provide recommendations to senior management
- Prepare, analyze and distribute job cost reports, tracking ongoing variances to estimates and actuals
- Prepare commission schedules per editorial contract agreements for payroll processing
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
- Assist with the implementation of internal controls in accordance with SOX requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
- Excellent understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other accounting standards
- Experience with production accounting, budgeting and financial analysis
- Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations accurately
