Pay RateJob DescriptionMSA Security, an Allied Universal Company, is hiring a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and coordinating the accounting close and plays a key role in the financial reporting process. The position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information to both MSA management and third parties. A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required as well as the ability to effectively coordinate tasks with various departments throughout the Company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Key participant in the month end closing process, includes the preparation of journal entries including accruals, reversing and permanent entries
- Record monthly revenues in accordance with revenue recognition principles
- Analyze various balance sheet accounts and preparation of reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset System
- Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes with a focus on improving efficiencies and strengthening internal controls
- Obtain information from and coordinate efforts with various accounting and operating departments
- Research discrepancies in account balances and proposing solutions based on findings
- Perform analysis of variances from budget and prior period results and Ad-hoc projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study
- Minimum of three (3) years of public or corporate accounting experience, preferably in the service industry
- Hands on experience with managing an accounting close
- Experience working with a major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) account system (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills required with detailed knowledge of advanced formulas and the ability to manipulate large amounts of data
- High attention to detail and strong administrative skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
- Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
