Senior Accountant (NEW POSITION) – Lafayette, IN
Our privately held, employee owned, growing manufacturing client, headquartered in Lafayette, Indiana, is seeking a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will maintain and safeguard the Company’s financial records while assisting with management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cost Accounting and the General Ledger. The Senior Accountant will work with other departments to assist with financial analysis and reporting, work with external vendors to maintain services required in a cost-effective manner and provide timely and reliable information. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting concepts, organizational and prioritization skills, and strong attention to detail.
Senior Accountant Key Responsibilities:
- Keep the Controller and VP of Finance informed of all pertinent information.
- Month-end and year-end close activities.
- General ledger entries and adjustments.
- Assist with management of cash, A/P, A/R, payroll, cost accounting and general ledger functions within the accounting department.
- Assist with annual financial review preparation.
- Responsible for tax compliance.
- Produce routine and ad hoc reports and analysis as required.
- Maximize Cash Flow including effective utilization of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Assist with management of Employee Benefits.
- Assist with development and implementation of the Company’s budget.
- Work closely with the IT Team to maximize the utilization and effectiveness of the Business Enterprise Software.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Department Managers to assist them in measuring, evaluating and accomplishing their financial goals.
- Monitor and observe internal controls that safeguard the Company’s assets and resources.
- Other duties as may be assigned
Senior Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the fields of Accounting and Finance, preferring experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Well versed and hands-on experience with both cost and general accounting.
- Experience and knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, data analysis, employee benefit administration and company policies administration.
- Experienced at monitoring, evaluating and implementing effective internal controls across the organization.
- Advanced computer and application skills, including advanced Excel and data analysis skills and preferably experience using Microsoft Dynamics NAV or MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Microsoft Suite programs (Dynamics NAV/MS Dynamics 365 Business Central, Outlook, Word, Power BI, Teams, etc.), database structure (SQL), other accounting and CRM programs.
- Oral and written business communications and relationship building with management, peers, salespersons, customers, vendors and other business partners.
- Must be able to work independently and demonstrate sound, professional judgment.
