Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

Senior Staff Accountant to handle assigned accounting duties for multiple accounts. Responsibilities include preparation of preliminary financial statements, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements, processing recurring journal entries, and gathering information required by Chief Financial Officer.

A significant amount of time will be dedicated to data analysis of a wide range of financial information. This is a fast paced and demanding position that requires frequent communication and accountability with Finance Directors. The successful candidate will have a calm professional demeanor and high stress tolerance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create monthly close journal entries including expense accruals for multi-specialty clinic.
• Provide sufficient and appropriate supporting documentation for all journal entries.
• Assist with the preparation of balance sheet and income statement account analyses with detailed explanations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis resolving unreconciled amounts in a timely manner.
• Independently identify, research, and provide recommendations for resolution to any accounting issues, consistent with a comprehensive understanding of best practices accounting practices.
• Generate accurate and concise reports based on extensive data analysis of a wide range of finance data points.
• Work independently, with broadly defined work objectives, and limited supervision and review of overall results.
• Prepare assigned areas of annual budget in an accurate, timely, and complete manner.
• Process bi-weekly payroll.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Assist with internal and external audits.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrate the ability to prepare, analyze, and maintain various financial reports.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between income statements and balance sheets.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Team player with excellent oral/written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to meet deadlines and to function under minimal direction.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of business professionals at all levels of the organization including management, physicians, support staff, patients, and customers.
• Attention to detail.
• Maintaining strict confidentiality of files and reports.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting from an accredited institution of higher learning approved by the Department of Education.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in professional accounting in a multi-specialty healthcare setting.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• ADP experience is preferred.
