Keep Yellowstone's guests and employees safe. Join the Security team in Yellowstone National Park!

 

The Safety and Security Department patrol buildings and grounds to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions such as fires, theft, vandalism, etc, and respond to medical emergencies, document any violations of policies, rules and regulations, and report writing. The guards are constantly on the move, and throughout the day they respond to a variety of issues that range from minor events to major emergencies. Learn more about the Security department.

 

 Join Our Team

  • Full-time, seasonal position starting in March/April 2023 and ending October/November 2023.
  • Location: You will be assigned to work at one of our properties across Yellowstone National Park.
  • Work Schedule is typically 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays). Time and a half is paid above 40 hours.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Safety and Security Manager (Positions Filled)

  • Oversee the safety and security of all guests and employees, supervision, training, payroll, ordering supplies, audit security operations; performance evaluations, corrective documentation.
  • Train basic first aid, CPR and AED to all security staff and ensure this training is in line with guidelines set by the American Heart Association.
  • Work through the location management team to coordinate and complete all drug and alcohol testing.
  • Coordinate with the Security Lead to ensure all pre-opening and monthly safety inspections are completed.

Security Supervisor - $21.00/hour (Positions Filled)

  • Support the Safety and Security Manager as well as the Security Guards.
  • Patrol assigned buildings and grounds, respond to medical emergencies, observe, report and document any violations of policy, rules and regulations.
  • Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections, respond to all intrusion and fire alarms.
  • Assist in implementing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and respond to medical emergencies and provide care within scope of training.    

Security Guard18.00/hour

  • Patrol assigned buildings and grounds for potential safety/security risks.
  • Respond to all intrusion and fire alarms, observe, report, and document any violations of policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Perform public safety and protective functions in a courteous and professional manner. Respond to medical emergencies and provide care within scope of training.
  • Perform pre-opening and monthly safety inspections of all buildings, monthly fire extinguisher inspections and point-of-sales tamper inspections.
Qualifications

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

 

Security Manager

  • Must have prevous experience in a management position preferably in the Security, Lost Prevention, Fire or EMS fields.
  • Must have supervisory, leadership, and training experience.
  • Must have advanced computer skills to include familiarity with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn company computer programs used for approving/adjusting payroll and ordering supplies. 
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR, first Aid and AED INSTRUCTOR certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Must be able to obtain BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification and be trained in oral drug and alcohol testing procedures.
  • Must be able to coach and mentor staff on a regular basis throughout season and provide for training opportunities and feed back. Plan and participate in one-on-one training for staff members.

Security Supervisor

  • Must be able to obtain BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification and be trained in oral drug and alcohol testing procedures.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Security Guard

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must perform all duties in a mature professional manner.

All Positions

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office and be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
  • Must be able and willing to work a variety of shifts (day, evening, overnight). Shifts are normally 8 hours but could be up to 12 hours.
  • Must have or be able to obtain CPR, first aid, and AED Certification through the American Heart Association  (training provided by Xanterra). 
  • Must display good judgement, diplomacy, objectivity and sound conflict/crisis intervention and problem solving skills for managing employee or guest interactions and complaints.

 Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift (days, swings, and overnight). Shift hours are dependent upon staffing levels and the needs of the Security Department and the business operation.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per shift with occasional climbing, sitting, stooping, bending or kneeling.
  • Must be able to respond in a safe and prompt manner to fire alarms, (within 3 minutes), which may include jogging or running to the location of the alarm.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and 75 pounds on occasion (i.e.: assist with medical personnel with loading/unloading patients into and out of ambulances).
