Located in the beautiful Black Hills region of South Dakota, Mount Rushmore National Memorial is open year-round and operates retail shops and a variety dining outlets serving convenient grab-and-go meals and coffee. We’re hiring a Parking Supervisor to Live. Work. Explore. in Mount Rushmore!

 

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Season Dates: Starting Late June/July 2024
Pay: $18.00/hr
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain various reports.
  • Work with guests to arrange and follow through on all parking related details and to ensure all special requests are met.
  • Acts as a liaison between the guest and the property staff. This person participates in arranging and cording parking details, bus tours, special events, employee parking and other occurrences that require parking.
  • Lead, train and inspect performance of assigned staff, ensuring that all procedures are completed to company and property standards.
  • Assists parking manager with inspecting the parking facilities to ensure that equipment and buildings meet requirements of state and local health codes and safety regulations.
  • Investigates and resolves customer service complaints with the assistance from the parking facility manager.
  • Analyzes information concerning facility operation such as daily staffing, patron attendance, and labor costs to assist in maintaining cost control of facility operations.
  • Oversees scheduling of employees.
  • Manage 3-5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 30 employees in the parking facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluations of the stated units. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Xanterra policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Work Ethic: The individual must have the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice. The individual must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision while working within the guidelines set by their supervisors.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Physical Requirements include:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to usual temperature ranges (both cool and hot) for extended periods of time.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderate.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Minimal travel outside the property may be required.
  • Standing, reaching, and use of hands on a regular basis.
  • Frequently walking.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
