PLACE OF WORK:

Dugway Proving Ground is seeking applicants for Security Guard positions for the Operations es Division, Security Guard Branch the West Desert Test Center at Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Dugway Proving Ground is approximately 50 minutes from Tooele, Utah, and 90-minute drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command has various incentives that may be available for highly qualified candidates. These include Recruitment Incentives, Relocation Incentives, Student Loan Repayment, and Credit for Leave Accrual. Incentives may be authorized IAW agency policy.

Salary on the announcement depicts the GS-6 step 1 through GS-6 step 10 annual salary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular mobile and foot patrols to check building physical security, fence line perimeters and provide visible security presence.

· Control access points into the installation/Federal property and restricted areas to identify security risks.

· Perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement guidelines.

· Prepare written reports to document all incidents as they occur on the installation.

· Respond to incidents to prevent theft, damage, accidents, trespassing, sabotage and espionage in accordance with the appropriate regulations.

· Provide emergency response during base closures, active shooter responses and physical security response in support of installation Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures.

· Operate two-way communication equipment to summon emergency vehicles and crews when assistance is needed.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. If your resume does not contain this information, your application may be marked as incomplete and you many not receive consideration for this position.

Specialized Experience for the GS-6: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as 1. Conducting maintenance, both routine and operation of all assigned weapons and related equipment (e.g., handguns, shotguns, police baton, and handcuffs), 2. Implementing law enforcement policies, procedures, and techniques, operating a variety of communication and electronics; AND 3. Utilizing surveillance systems and equipment such as radios, transmitters, CCTVs and intrusion detection systems. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Position requires applicant to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

· This position requires the incumbent to successfully pass the Physical Agility Test (PAT) and sign a statement acknowledging have been so advised.

· This position requires shiftwork or changes in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

· This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification and qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.

· The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

· This position must wear prescribed uniform. This position also requires wearing protective/chemical mask and other protective clothing and equipment.

· This position requires being on call 24 hours/7days a week. This position also requires mandatory overtime. Additionally, this position requires work in all types of weather.

· This position requires special training at least 8-12 hours/month as required to provide immediate response to situations such as terrorist threat, special threat situations to surety sites and other locations on post as directed.

· This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

· This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

· This position requires drug-testing per the Army Drug Free Workplace Program. This position is subject to pre-employment screening and testing thereafter, to include reasonable suspicion and testing due to an on-duty accident.

· This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

· This position is subject to a two-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
