Job description

This National Guard position is for an SECURITY SPECIALIST (INDEF) (Title 32), the Position Description Number is D1277000 and is part of the G2, located in Draper UT with the Utah Army National Guard.
The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Mr. Martin Buck Taylor.
IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated AUG 2022 and LIUNA-UTARNG CBA dated 11 OCT 2022, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTARNG.Qualifications:

BASIC QUALICATIONS:

  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately;
  • Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit; effective two-way radio or telephone communication;
  • Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats;
  • Ability to communicate -orally and in writing- clearly and effectively;
  • Ability to assess body language and perceive immediate risk levels; and,
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material
General Experience:
Have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 09:
Have at least 1 year at the GS-0560-07 or above? Must Submit SF 50
OR Have at least 24 months of experience that equipped yourself with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

  • Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems.
  • Ability to develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and expertise in information, personnel, and physical security to effectively implement, integrate and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
  • Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE 11:
Have at least 1 year experience at the GS-0080-10. Must submit SF50*
OR
Have at least 36 months of experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems.

Education: Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience 09:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related?The college degree education must be in one of -or- be a combination of the following required disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience 11
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
