The Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a Security Data Engineerin Huntsville, AL. Security Data Engineer will conduct multiple data mining/tracking, penetration testing to assess vulnerabilities of critical customer networks and take pro-active measures to strengthen against potential threats. Security Data Engineerpen tests identify data, test and research rapid development of domain/problem-specific tools which leverage identified vulnerabilities, latest exploitation techniques and threat vectors. Ability to think quickly, adapt to various environments, work, and communicate effectively with various teams, management, vendors, external/internal customers. Security Data Engineerwill travel to provide customer support at various events. This position is contingent on contract award.
Security Data Engineer Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering or related technical field and 2-4 years relevant work experience ORDegree waived with 8-10 years’ experience in Security Data Mining/Tracking, Red Teaming, Penetration Testing, Computer Network Defense (CND), Computer Network Exploitation (CNE) or equivalent
- Active Secret Clearance with eligibility to upgrade to TS/SCI
- Must have active/current Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certifications (present upon hire)
- 2+ years’ experience in Security Data Mining/Tracking, Red Teaming, Penetration Testing, Computer Network Defense (CND), Computer Network Exploitation (CNE) or equivalent
- Working experience with one or more scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Node, Bash, etc
- Designing and implementing data mining strategies to extract insights from large datasets
- Processing large databases and data mining
- Developing and applying statistical and machine learning algorithms for data analysis
- Deliver process mining activities for discovery and diagnostics
- Capture critical service and process controls for leading indicators based on data insights and supportive investigations
- Develop tools and scripts from concept to production, at times with short deadlines, utilizing various programming languages
- Strong understanding of emerging threats, security principles, attack methodologies, and vulnerability assessment techniques
- Experience with common red team tooling platforms, such as Kali Linux, Cobalt Strike, Metasploit, Intercepting Proxies, etc
- Effectively manage multiple penetration test exercises/events from cradle to grave simultaneously
- Conduct penetration test on applications, systems and networks through proven/formal processes and industry standards
- Strong hands on experience with TCP/IP protocols relating to network security
- Perform web application security assessments
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (OS), and security tools, and how to exploit/circumvent them
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively provide technical information, reports and guidance to both technical and non-technical customers
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs pounds

- Master’s degree (in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field) or technical equivalent

- 6+ experience with secure data mining, threat detection, incident response, and implementing or developing mitigating controls in a large environments
