The International Leadership Charter High School is a high-performing college preparatory community-grown public charter school located in the northwest section of the Bronx. We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead the instructional program.
The Secondary School Principal (SSP) is an instructional leader that advances proven teaching and learning principles that are aligned with the charter school's accelerated instructional model. The SSP is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and supervision of the academic and instructional program towards maintaining and sustaining high levels of student's academic performance. The SSP implements an academically rigorous curriculum that raises student's intellectual capacity, offers a superior secondary education and prepares students for 21st century higher learning. This position works collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that student performance standards are met, achievement exceeds expectations for the city and state, and are aligned with the school's charter goals. The role requires creating a school culture of high academic and behavioral excellence. The SSP conducts ongoing informal and formal teaching faculty observations and evaluations and works with instructional coaches to improve teacher's professional growth.
Key Duties
- Implement the charter school's vision, mission, core values and goals.
- Facilitate training and implementation of Components of Effective Teaching for the evaluation of teaching and learning.
- Conduct all informal and formal teaching observations and complete written evaluations on time.
- Develop and manage data collection system to support teacher and student performance evaluations.
- Assess and report monthly on teacher performance and student achievement.
- Recommend timely school-wide and content-specific interventions based on analysis of student needs assessment.
- Monitor and effectively implement instructional support for Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners based on need assessment.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Masters Degree with a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience (Educational Administration licenses preferred)
- Demonstrated effectiveness with linking teacher observations, feedback to teacher growth and student achievement.
- Passionate about teaching and learning with demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous and inquiry-based classroom instruction and materials.
- Demonstrated the ability to think critically, be strategic and prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated the ability to be proactive and anticipate and communicate challenges (verbal and written) with the charter school's leadership team.
- Solution-oriented with problem-solving and growth challenges.
- Facilitate the development, revision and evaluation of the academic curriculum, instructional support and teacher professional growth.
Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with the level of experience and demonstrated track record of success. Compensation package includes a competitive base salary of $130,000 , health, dental vision and 401k or 403b plan. Please include cover letter with resume. Current COVID vaccination required.
