SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Group Leader will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating and overseeing all maintenance functions. The Group Leader must facilitate timely machine/plant repairs and function with "hands-on" leadership as demanding work loads occur.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares and oversees maintenance work assignments daily.
Insures that PM programs are completed on schedule.
Coordinates manpower to insure that equipment downtime is minimized.
Installs and prepares equipment for start-up as required.
Trains other maintenance personnel as needed on an on-going basis.
Obtains quotes and writes purchase requisitions for needed materials.
Prepares spare parts requisitions.
Provides Maintenance Manager with input for annual job performance reviews.
Performs various electro-mechanical maintenance on assigned shift as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The maintenance Group Leader does not directly supervise the maintenance workers on the shift. However, the Group Leader is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and overseeing the completion of work assigned to the shift. Actual supervision of maintenance employees is the responsibility of the Maintenance Manager. Since the Maintenance Manager is not available at all times, the Group Leader will be responsible for providing input as required. The Group Leader is also authorized to give direction related to job assignments. The Responsibilities of the Group Leader specifically exclude hiring and firing decisions, appraising performance except as outlined above, rewarding and disciplining employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school studying applied trades, plus a minimum of five years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet applications. Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documents, and machine manuals.
Working knowledge of machine tools, electrical power distribution, and plant utility systems. Ability to communicate effectively in performing duties of the job such as giving job assignments, follow-up, etc.
