Who we are?
Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan. Ethical Culture School, located on the Upper West Side at 63rd Street and Central Park West, is comprised of approximately 450 students Pre-K through 5th Grade and 80 faculty members.

Position Summary
Ethical Culture Fieldston School is looking for a Second Grade Associate Teacher leave replacement to work at our Ethical Culture division in Manhattan. This candidate will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of a seasoned classroom teacher and gain invaluable experience in the classroom.
This is a leave replacement position beginning approximately January 8, 2024, through June 15, 2024.
Please note that this is an onsite role and is not performed remotely. Ethical Culture Fieldston School retains its right to modify job duties in accordance with changing operational needs.
The annualized hiring salary for this position is $51,159. Please note this rate is prorated based on start date.
Responsibilities
Associate teachers are responsible for teaching language arts, math, and social studies under the direction of the head teacher. They are also responsible for general classroom organizational duties, including taking attendance, family communication, classroom management, recess supervision, and helping to transition students between classes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to social justice education and a passion for working with young children. Candidates should be interested in curriculum and instruction. A flexible attitude, strong communication skills, and punctuality are essential. Candidates should ideally already have their Masters or be in a Masters's program.
