Position Summary

The Customer Experience Intern is a member of the Demo Center/Customer Experience team, which is aligned within the greater Canyon US Marketing Department.

The overall goal of this position is to facilitate an exceptional customer experience for anyone who walks into the building. This includes helping merchandise and organize the space, resolving visiting customer queries, explaining product features and functionality, setting customers up on test rides, guiding customers through the purchasing process, and supporting special Marketing Department events.

Reporting directly to the Customer Experience Supervisor, this role requires a strong foundation of communication and coordination as well as the ability to harness and stay up to date on product (Canyon bicycle) knowledge.

This position is 100% onsite and will require working on weekends as the Demo Center is open to the public on Saturday and events are held on weekends.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills as well as enthusiasm about bikes and a desire to learn more about the features and mechanics of bicycles.

Summary of Key Objectives:

  • Be the welcoming face of Canyon as visitors enter and browse. Act as the host of Canyon’s home to make guests feel comfortable and tended to.
  • Engage all customers to determine their desired experience and outcome for the visit. Drive an upbeat, friendly, professionally consultative discussion to help them achieve their goals.
  • Ability to foster a positive environment that makes guests feel welcome.
  • Facilitate community awareness and proactively create ways to foster inclusion and diversity, both inside the space and outside in the community at large.
  • Ability to explain product features and functionality and setting riders up to demo bikes.
  • Energetically assist during Canyon USA Showroom events.

Minimum Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED completion
  • Minimum one year of experience in retail, customer service, or hospitality industry
  • Basic knowledge of bikes with the ability to be trained and maintain on-going updates to product information.
  • Understanding of the local cycling and outdoor community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with an acute ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Strong communications acumen.
  • Collaborative team-player with an open mind.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – willingness and ability to resolve conflicts in an appropriate and constructive manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

It is a world-class office space with a Canyon Showroom for displaying our professional team and athlete bikes. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to move bikes and be standing for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
