Job Overview:
As the Seasonal Event Coordinator, you will oversee the planning and implementation of the Angel Tree and Christmas Kettles.
What You Will Do:
- Kettle planning, organizing, staffing, and supervising
- Counting, receipting, and banking of kettle moneys, mail appeal, etc.
- Work with volunteers, service groups, and similar agencies
- Angel Tree planning and supervision
- Deliver Angel Tree Tags
- Maintain trees at various businesses
- Receipt and log all donations
- Contacts with agencies, service clubs, and schools
- Toy shop organization, staffing
- Implement the distribution of donated items and coordinate the distribution
- Publicity planning
- Canned food drives pickups and sorting
- Food basket packing, and distribution
- Data Entry of applications into the computer
- Community Care Ministries planning, staffing, and visiting at institutions
- Organize clean-up of distribution
- Pack, label, and store remaining items for future use
- Other tasks as assigned by leadership
Minimum Qualifications:The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed. Findings may disqualify an individual for this position
Experience: One to two years’ experience organizing large events
Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
- Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
- Able to plan and organize large events
- Able to work in a faced-paced environment while meeting or exceeding deadlines
- Able to evaluate options and recommend or make independent decisions when necessary
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
Supervisory Responsibility: Recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers

Physical Requirements Include:
- Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity

Travel: Travel within the county
Working Conditions: Work is performed in various environments including outside and in a vehicle; may require some weekend and evening work
