Rate: $11.00/hour minimum starting rate – starting rate based on prior experience and education
Location: Penitentiary Glen Reservation, Kirtland, OH 44094
Position Description:
Under direction of the Interpretive Manager, the Nature Center Receptionist communicates with visitors and assists the staff with maintaining and operating the facility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answers phones and greets visitor at the front desk at the Penitentiary Glen Nature Center.
- Trains, coaches and schedules volunteers who assist with visitor services.
- Assists in the Nature Store with light housekeeping and completing transactions.
- Assists with booking and facilitating rental clients.
- Records statistics for Nature Center activities.
- Orders and maintains supplies.
- Assists with special events including, but not limited to, purchasing supplies, managing email communications, scheduling vendors, and organizing registrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 1 year of experience working in retail and customer service preferred.
Position Requirements:
- Skilled in communication, including written, oral, and listening.
- Skilled in customer service and interpersonal communication with the ability to interact professionally with all types of people.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently and calmly under stressful conditions.
- Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Variable work schedule, up to 28 hours per week.
- Basic knowledge of native Ohio wildlife.
- May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
