Make your mark for patients


UCB’s Gene Therapy Vector Core team is seeking a Scientist I to join a group focused on AAV vector design. The candidate will work across functional teams and will be responsible for cloning, plasmid and AAV production to support gene therapy platform development. This position will be based out of the Bedford location of our Boston R&D Hub.


NOTE:
We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas at any point for this role.


Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Cloning, amplification and sequencing of plasmid DNA for AAV production
  • Research-grade AAV Vector Production using suspension HEK293 systems
  • Coordinate production needs with different internal stakeholders and support AAV operations
  • Support digitalization initiatives by generating insights from AAV registration database

Minimum Experience/Skills Required

  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in AAV production
  • 2+ years of experience in standard molecular biology techniques
  • Previously demonstrated ability to follow SOPs
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines
  • Experience with AAV entity registration in online databases and electronic notebooks
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • MSc degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related field
  • Hands-on experience in production and purification of viruses other than AAV
  • Direct experience with ultracentrifugation and chromatography based separations
  • Expertise in routine testing of plasmid and AAV batches
  • Experience in AAV library production

Compensation Range: $96,480 to $126,630
