The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care, is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I with a strong background in innate immunity, cellular metabolism, mitochondrial biology, and molecular biology. The Scientist I position will perform experiments to study the role of cellular metabolism and inflammasome activation in the regulation of lung injury, repair and fibrosis. The major focus in the lab is to delineate the role of metabolic dysregulations in a variety of pulmonary cells in lung injury, repair, and fibrosis.

- To employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in a particular field of specialization.
- To plan, coordinate and conduct research.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs, performs and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs.
- Supervises and/or performs equipment maintenance, operations, and quality control procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range $63,125.00 - $83,412.50
- Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR M.D. and Master's degree.
- OR Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience
- OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Experience with single cell omics and genetically modified mice are highly preferred.
- Successful candidate should be able to design, perform and interpret experiments, and to write manuscripts for publication and presentation.
