Description:
As a part of Analytics group, Junior Scientist will support ArkeaBio vaccine development pipeline, with a strong focus on developing and executing in vitro assays for evaluating vaccine formulation performance. This is mostly a bench-based position with primary responsibilities related to proteomics work and analysis of field trial samples. Additional duties might be assigned depending on dynamics of research and the Company’s needs. Candidate will be asked to maintain a record of performed experiments and present results during weekly meetings.
Key responsibilities:
We are looking for candidates that are passionate and learning focused, with ability to synthesize literature, data, and results into hypothesis-driven research directions and design experiments whose results would support these research directions. They are someone who can work collaboratively within a team to contribute to overall R&D strategy of ArkeaBio’s vaccine development pipeline. A successful candidate will be able to perform the following:
- Develop new and optimize existing assays for evaluation of immunization protocols;
- Develop and execute sera and saliva testing protocols;
- Design and execute expression of recombinant proteins in different expression systems;
- Purification and quality check of expressed recombinant proteins;
- Take a part in maintaining cultures of different methanogenic microorganisms;
- Maintain detailed and organized written records of performed experiments in accordance with regulatory needs;
- Communicate experimental findings efficiently in written and verbal format.
Qualifications/Skills:
- PhD in the field of life science (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.;
- Expertise in molecular and immunological techniques, including ELISA and western blot;
- Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification;
- Experience in cell culture and/or culture of anaerobic microorganisms is plus;
- Strong scientific focus;
- Passion for learning;
- Excellent people skills including written and verbal communication;
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
