Chemistry with Comparative Anatomy
Overview:
Beaumont School is seeking a full-time Chemistry and Comparative Anatomy Teacher to join our Science Department for the 2023-2024 academic year. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative educator with experience teaching at the high school level.
Beaumont School, founded in 1850, is the oldest school in the Cleveland Diocese and the oldest all-girls secondary school in greater Cleveland. Inspired by the example of Saint Angela Merici to serve others and champion the education of women, Beaumont is dedicated to a college preparatory and International Baccalaureate liberal arts education. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, 7-12 Science Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- 7-12 Comprehensive Science License (preferred)
- Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or eligible to obtain an Ohio Teaching Certificate
- FBI/BCI background check
- VIRTUS certification
- Proven teaching or instructional experience (preferred)
- Experience teaching International Baccalaureate courses (preferred)

Position Responsibilities:
- Teaches full-time, including 6 blocks during 2-day A/B cycle, plus assigned duties
- Follows course objectives of the Beaumont School curriculum
- Works collaboratively with fellow teachers to design and deliver authentic instruction and assessment
- Primary focus on varying levels of Chemistry may include but not limited to electives such as Comparative Anatomy; utilize best practices in teaching within this academic discipline
- Plans and delivers a science program that includes demonstrations, lectures, discussion, and student experiments
- Demonstrates scientific concepts by use of scientific apparatus, experiments, and standard or teacher-prepared charts, sketches, and other instructional aids
- Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools
- Works with other departments to provide interdisciplinary support and develop cross-curricular units
- Utilize technology and other educational tools to support student learning
- Maintains classroom control and pupil behavior
- Communicates with counselors, administration, and tutors to maintain a positive learning experience and identify any problems or difficulties among students
- Communicates with parents and students by maintaining grade book, LMS Page, and through email/phone calls
- Pursues and participates in professional development on a regular basis
- Maintains flexible hours within contract specifications, providing time before or after school for additional help, individualized instruction, and mentoring
- Participates in required afterschool and weekend events like open houses, curriculum nights, and parent-teacher conferences
- Other duties as assigned

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. General office environment. Work is primarily, but not exclusively, in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential or work hazards; however, there are sometimes stressful conditions. Working conditions will require working in front of a computer for several hours. Occasionally working outside, standard working days or hours are required. Frequent in-person meetings for individuals or groups, virtual, and phone calls. Travel to prospect schools and external events. Variations in noise level will occur.
