Careers In Education Teacher/Science Teacher
This postion is a unique opportunity for an experienced science teacher to also prepare high school students who may wish to pursue a career In Education.
2/5 of the position would be to teach a Careers in Education class to students enrolled in the Mancheester School of Technology's Career and Technology Education (CTE) program called Careers in Education. The ideal candidate must be a passionate, creative, and engaging teacher with 
experience working with high school students. The Careers in Education class will be a Running Start program aligned with the education preparation program at Manchester Community College. Students enrolled in the program will receive both high school and college credit. 
3/5 of the position will be teaching either physical science, chemistry or biology to students who are enrolled full time at the Manchester School of Technology high school. Certification in either biological or physical science would be required. The Manchester School of Technology high school is a project based environment and utilizes a 1-4 competency grading system rather than traditional grading.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:  
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university.
  • State of NH Teacher Certification in secondary physical science or biology.
  • Obtaining a CTE certification for Careers in Education will also be necessary and can be completed while employed.
  • Master's Degree in Education

Major Responsibilities, Duties and Instructional Strategies:   
  • Esatblishing a working relationship with local elementary, middle and high schools to promote internship opportunities for the Careers in Education students.
  • Preparation of budget request for the Perkins Federal Grant so that it complies with all regulations.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of content, discipline, and related pedagogy as demonstrated through the quality of the design and execution of lessons and the ability to match objectives and activities to relevant rigorous academic standards, the competencies for NH CTE Digital Communication, and College and Career Readiness Standards
  • Develop and implement timely lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and/or modifications that differentiate for individual student needs
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students, and present subject matter according to guidelines
  • Demonstrated competency of digital-age work and student learning
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students, and present subject matter according to guidelines established
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, integrate and actively use technology and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students involved
  • Demonstrate understanding of instructional planning and timely delivery pacing by providing standards-based, data-driven, differentiated instruction that engages students, incorporates appropriate use of technology, and makes learning relevant for today's learners
  • Work collaboratively with other members of faculty and staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
  • Accept shared responsibility for project-based, interdisciplinary and/or thematic initiatives that provide both intervention and enrichment opportunities for all students
  • Be a positive role model for students
  • Work to ensure high levels of learning and achievement outcomes for all students, taking into consideration each student's educational and developmental background and focusing on each student's needs
  • Review and analyze multiple sources of data incorporating both formal and informal methods to measure and assess student growth aligned to instructional goals and course objectives and to adjust instructional strategies and content delivery as needed
  • Hold at least 2 Careers in Education Advisory Board Meetings per school year.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the high school principal or asst principal.
Classroom Management, Organization and Lesson Preparation
  • Interact in respectful ways with students at all times that maximizes student learning
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with district standards
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials for budgetary process
  • Maintain accurate, complete student records, including those competency documents required by the State of New Hampshire for CTE.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional growth opportunities and serve on assigned committees
  • Keep all documents needed for Career Bureau Monitoring
Specified Length/Hours of Position:  This is an affiliated (MEA) position under the Teacher Association negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
