Qualifications:

• Hold or be eligible for license and certification as School Social Worker in accordance with 14 Del.C. §1584 which includes: Master's degree from an accredited university in field of Social Work (MSW), hold a license to practice as a LCSW or LMSW, and have two years of full-time work as a Social Worker.
• Be committed to Sussex Technical's mission, vision, and values.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Function as a member of a team with the school counselors, school nurses, administration, mental health professionals, and staff to determine the needs for students and find resources to support their needs.
• Posses ability to motivate and build relationships with students and their families to promote student success.
• Serve as a liaison between families, students, community agencies and school. Strengthen community partnerships in an effort to support students in need and provide resources.
• Provide individual and group treatment as it relates to the support of identified student needs.
• Provide therapeutic classroom support which may include observation of students and staff consultation.
• Provide input for the development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)/ Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP) and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) as needed.
• Provide family treatment/support services as needed to include, but not limited to: short-term family therapy, family liaison and home visits.
• Provide crisis intervention to include, but not limited to: family and/or interagency involvement, Prevention and Behavioral Health, Division of Family Service, Division of Youth Rehabilitative Service, Family Court, other relevant public and private agencies.
• Provide referrals to and collaborate with behavioral health agencies.
• Participate as a member of school-based problem-solving team.
• Participate as a member of IEP and 504 teams, as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided.
• Provide consultation and training to school staff on the provision of student support.
• Provide families with guidance regarding support of student behavioral health needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Ten (10) month position.
Salary and Benefits: Pension and benefit eligible position. Salary commensurate with verified educational level, qualifications, and experience according to state and local salary scales.
