Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
- Counsels students on conduct to prevent disruptions or fights in or on school grounds that threaten the safety of students, staff, and/or guests.
- Prevent or stop students from engaging in unsafe activities according to established guidelines and notify the school site administration regarding how to resolve safety and security concerns.
- Engage in conflict management according to established protocols and promptly alerts administration of physical altercations to minimize disruption of campus activities and prevent injury to involved parties.
- Patrol assigned areas of campus during assigned periods to ensure student compliance with established rules and guidelines, and maintain order and safety.
- Ensure the timely arrival/return of students to class before and after school, lunch, and break periods in accordance with established guidelines.
- Report to the school site administrator unusual activity, suspicions of safety issues, safety hazards, altercations, and other incidents in a timely fashion
- Assists with evacuation, fire, and lockdown drills to ensure the orderly movement of students from classrooms to designated meeting locations.
- Complete proper documentation related to incident reports and misconduct reports
- Monitor school grounds and school entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and authorized visitors access the school and verify visitors in accordance with school sign-in procedures.
- Build positive and professional relationships with students and leverage those relationships to establish and maintain productive and safe learning environments.
- Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with students at all times
- Under direction from administration, leads efforts to de-escalate inappropriate student behaviors
- Monitoring of student behavior during the lunch period and school lunch service

- Methods and techniques of monitoring and guiding middle and high school age student behavior
- Age appropriate conflict management methods and techniques
- Methods and techniques of developing age-appropriate rapport with students
- Proactively patrol assigned areas of campus
- Remain alert at all times and pay attention to detail while supervising and monitoring students' behavior and campus activities
- Exercise patience, confidence, and authority when supervising and giving directions to students
- Exercise good judgment in campus supervision and discern which situations should be referred to a teacher, administrator, or other relevant staff
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrate sensitivity to students, colleagues, and public with diverse cultures, languages, ethnic, socioeconomic, and other backgrounds
- Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and confidential information
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Previous experience in security preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certified
