Position Summary
The Academy ESS School Psychologist’s primary job function is to collaborate with ESS Coordinators at various academies in the preparation for and execution of school-based evaluations to ensure Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) reports meet IDEA and Arizona State compliance requirements. The School Psychologist must model the core virtues of the academies they serve and pursue a deeper understanding of what it means to provide a classical, liberal arts education. This means that they attend to the common goal of serving the needs of the students they are evaluating in their daily work, their communication approach, and their decision-making skills while earning and maintaining the trust and confidence of those they work with.
Duties & Responsibilities
School Psychologist
· Coordinate, facilitate, and execute assigned initial and triennial Review of Existing Data and Review of Additional Data meetings, including:
o Conduct classroom observations
o Administer school-based evaluation assessments (i.e., cognitive, academic achievement, social/emotional/behavioral assessments, etc.)
o Coordinate and collaborate with related service providers regarding evaluation
o Attend and facilitate Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team Meetings
o Assist academy ESS staff in drafting MET Reports, which can include review of existing data, detailed interpretative and summary of assessment results, Eligibility Determination Forms, and Prior Written Notices
o Consult with staff, parents, and other stakeholders participating in the special education process Assist in the facilitation of the manifestation determination process
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: Minimum master's degree. Valid Arizona Special Education School Psychology Certificate
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years' experience as a School Psychologist
· Special Skills:
· Extensive knowledge of special education processes, including state and federal timelines and compliance requirements
· High level of emotional intelligence
· Humility and skill with collaboration between multiple teams
· Conflict resolution and mediation
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Experience and speed with multiple platforms and computer programs (Student Information Systems, IEP writing programs, MS Office Suite, Google)
Additional Requirements
Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
