Job Title: School Nurse
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
The School Nurse must be skilled in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, coordinating and managing student physical, social and emotional wellness, and practice within school, hospital, and state standards. The School Nurse will be responsible for assessing and promoting the health and safety of faculty, staff, and any visitors in the school and will be expected to attend grade level meetings with faculty as well as Administrative meetings.
- Must hold a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey.
- Maintain accurate and up to date NJ State A-45 forms for all students as required by the Monmouth County Health Department and NJ State law.
- Approve all incoming requirements and physical forms in Magnus, the student and faculty health portal, and maintain the accounts compliance for all requirements throughout the school year.
- Must possess the ability to develop positive working relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff using written and verbal communications skills.
- Communicate between the administration, main office, faculty, staff and athletic department with the medical restrictions for students in physical education, academics and or sports.
- Communicate with the Heads of the Upper or Lower School any student in crises and be able to assess and communicate with appropriate personnel any students at risk.
- Communicate throughout the school year with faculty on any necessary student medical issues, special care and concerns.
- Organize and coordinate the RCDS Crisis Intervention Team and be able to assist the school community in emergency preparedness, and assist in the event of a traumatic loss of any kind.
- Possess considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment, as well as normal and abnormal childhood growth and development.
- Have a working knowledge of potential public health problems and work in coordination with the local health department.
- Maintain monthly meetings with school physician and report any unusual findings in student health and communicable diseases.
- Schedule the annual flu clinic for all faculty and staff.
- Coordinate and schedule the annual CPR/EPI-PEN training for all faculty and staff.
- Order all office supplies and first aid equipment for main school and 101 Ridge Road.
- Make monthly checks on all AED equipment.
- Make weekly visits to Nursery and Pre-K and Beginners to assess students, environment, and make sick and injury visits as necessary.
- Become a member of the county, state, and National School Nurses Association.
- Assume responsibility for continuing education, state license renewal, and CPR/AED recertification.
