North Routt Community Charter School is seeking a Maintenance Technician to start as soon as possible. This job can be fulfilled as an employee or by a vendor / business (must holds liability insurance).

Wage: $20.28-$31.43 (If hired as an employee). NRCCS understands that if this poistion is filled by a vendor that rates will be higher than this.
Term of Employment: 2023-24 School Year/ 5-10 hours per week plus additional hours as needed and requested by the Head of School.
JOB GOAL: To maintain physical plants, facilities and grounds in such a manner to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the students and staff. Minimize emergency repairs by performing preventative maintenance inspections and servicing equipment on a regular basis.
JOB SUMMARY: Works as a team member under the supervision of the Head of School. Must have the ability to maintain a high quality of work. Must be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Specific days and hours to be determined by the supervisor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and follow a routine maintenance schedule for the entire school building.
  • General Grounds Keeping
  • Custodial: Periodic deep cleaning of gym and school flooring as directed by the Head of School.
  • Conduct themselves at all times in a manner appropriate to a school environment including appropriate clothing and clean appearance.
  • Provide information in a friendly and courteous manner whenever requested.
  • Coordinate special requests and or requirements with faculty and staff for cleaning and maintenance as directed by supervisor.
  • Relocate/move furniture, equipment and supplies as required and or requested.
  • Respond to after hour emergencies as requested.
  • Repair known conditions that are safety or health hazards. Notify Head of School in writing all safety issues that are not immediately repairable. Secure the area until repairs are completed. Request in writing safety equipment that may be necessary to job performance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED required. Technical, trade and or vocational education preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in facilities maintenance or 2 years as a carpenter, plumber, HVAC technician or electrician as a journeyman the trade.
• Ability to read and write using the English language.
• Valid Colorado driver's license.
• Ability to perform simple math calculations.
• Previous employment experience in multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and roofing is desirable.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff and visitors.
• Physically capable to perform maintenance duties on a daily basis. These daily duties include but are not

limited to:
o Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet.
o Operate snow removal equipment.
o Manual snow shoveling.
o Setting up and climbing extension ladders to an elevation of twenty feet.
o Scraping, sanding, and painting using a variety of paint chemicals.
o Manually scrubbing floors and walls with a variety of chemicals and disinfectants.
o Ability to stand for long periods of time and capable of frequent pushing, pulling, squatting and reaching.
o Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to measure, weigh, and combine chemical ingredients per manufacturer's written instructions.
o Ability of withstanding exposure to the outdoor elements including extreme cold, extreme heat, rain, snow and other mountain climatic conditions.
o Digging ditches.
o Mixing, pouring and finishing concrete.

Essential Job Functions:
Decision Making: An example of a typical decision made by an individual in this position is to interpret policies/procedures and best practice. An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing financial condition of NRCCS to be affected. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and the NRCCS Board of Education.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.
Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
