FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $66,560 - $70,000
Program Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
Supervisory Responsibility: Transportation Coordinator, Teacher’s Assistant/Bus Aides, Van Drivers
Responsible for the overall safe, efficient, operation of the School Logistics Department. This includes managing Transportation and Teacher Assistant personnel, managing and using necessary software, assisting with budgeting, attending necessary administrative and student-related meetings, liaising with all ECF departments, the community, and parents as necessary. This person needs to be extremely well organized, strategic and pro-active. They need to possess excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills. A knowledge of fleet management is a must. They must have familiarity with the needs and behaviors of special needs students. Have leadership skills including using positive communication, setting clear expectations, the ability to follow through with responsibilities.
- Maintaining pro-active oversight of all aspects of the School Logistics Department, communicating consistently and promptly with supervisors and administrative team regarding staff changes, departmental issues, policy changes, etc.
- In consultation with the Human Resources Department and School Principal, handle personnel administration, including: recruitment, interviewing, supervision, evaluations, and discipline procedures.
- Having a full understanding and working knowledge of all electronic systems required to run the department (Viafy, BrightMove, Insperity, GradeLink etc.). Communicating with Viafy directly when necessary. Be able to train on all systems.
- Creating forms in Viafy system to increase efficiency, safety, and staff accountability.
- Overseeing the input of all necessary data and forms into Viafy system.
- Analyzing needs and assisting with the development of the Logistics Department QA Plan as it relates to the overall KES operation, including creating data measurement systems.
- Reviewing and analyzing departmental budget as it relates to overall KES budget and making recommendations.
- Having a working knowledge of district, contractual, as well as state law, as it relates to transportation safety.
- Working with the Dean of Students and Principal to assure that the PBIS behavioral component of transportation works in conjunction with KES; create policy, and include in Transportation Manual.
- Working in collaboration with multiple KES departments and attending necessary administrative and student-related meetings.
- Overseeing the maintenance of van fleet including: purchasing, van maintenance, registration, insurance, cleanliness, etc.
- Overseeing the training of new staff, including updating Transportation Manual and Creating Teacher Assistant Training Manual both as TAs and on all safety procedures and protocols.
- Update Logistics Training Manual to meet current standards and procedures; including training protocols.
- Be available to drive if necessary.
Other Duties
- Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
- Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Attend and participate in trainings, meetings and activities as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Licenses/Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Five (5) years working with children with special needs, learning, behavioral, emotional and/or developmental disabilities. Five (5) years’ experience working with all aspects of managing a Transportation Fleet or equivalent experience.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the scope of responsibilities.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
- Pass a DOJ background investigation.
- Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
- Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid, and CPR certification.
This is a school environment for students (K–12th grade) who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Work will be performed in a classroom and outdoors. Indoor temperature is comfortable; outdoor temperature and weather will vary. Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, and drafts. Employee may encounter students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological behaviors or behaving in an aggressive manner. Employee may not be in a room alone with a student unless the door or blinds are open. Students must never be left unattended.
