LOCATION: Rogers Middle School
DETAILS: 9 ½-month professional position (1.0 FTE) with paid sick and personal leave. District-provided benefits package that includes health, dental, life and vision insurance.
COMPENSATION: Salary for this position is in accordance with the Teacher Salary Schedule for the 2023-24 school year. This position begins at a minimum of $44,250 annually. Placement onto the salary schedule is determined by education and experience. Pursuant to board policy, for initial placement a maximum of 5 years of experience may be applied to the Teacher Salary Schedule. This is a full-time contracted position with benefits.
JOB SUMMARY: Utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. This SCHOOL COUNSELOR position will be serving students in grades 6-8.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a master's degree with Counseling emphasis
- Appropriate Missouri School Counseling and/or Student Services certification (Counselor K-12) required
- Candidates with teaching experience and secondary Missouri teaching certification preferred
- Candidates with prior SCHOOL COUNSELOR experience preferred
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, the community and other target populations
- Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and District
- Must keep current with changing trends, procedures, and laws to meet the essential duties of a SCHOOL COUNSELOR
- Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form
- Ability to listen well and take initiative to solve problems
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
- Ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population
- Ability to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment
- Requires the ability to work independently, use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations
- Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and interact positively with students, staff, administration, and the community
- Ability to work as a team player and independently, communicate and collaborate with appropriate staff and other professionals
- Must be willing to learn new material and attend professional development, conferences and workshops
