Position: Transportation Dispatcher/Student Conduct
Work Schedule: Full-time-M-F, 40 hours/week approx 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Year Round
Start Date: ASAP - Flexible start date
Pay: Per Local 70 Labor Agreement

Required Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Class B CDL license, including School Bus Driver & Passenger endorsements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in School Bus operations with 2 years experience directly related to working with student behaviors and training of School Bus drivers
- Ability to provide and maintain reliable attendance
- General knowledge of or willingness to learn School Bus laws related to School Bus driving and operations
- Strong map reading and drawing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse populations of students, parents, administrators, bus drivers and monitors
- Ability to problem-solve and maintain a calm attitude during emergency and/or stressful situations
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate daily records
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills including writing, speaking, and listening
- Willingness to follow directions and procedures
- Strong computer skills working with SQL Databases, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite
- Some post-secondary education (i.e. Associate's, Bachelor's, etc.)
- Knowledge of VersaTrans routing software and routing procedures
- Knowledge of computer database and mapping systems
Dispatch:
- Provides general day to day dispatching/office functions
- AM shift is typically 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM, and after as needed
- PM shift is typically 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, before and after as needed
- At least one dispatcher is required to be working on days when buses are in service. Dispatchers must have flexibility and ability to collaborate with one another to coordinate schedules for proper coverage of the office.
- Maintain accurate records of all assignments in dispatch log
- Review, schedule, maintain records, and supply to Manager/Supervisor time-off requests
- Provide work direction to all full and part-time personnel assigned to the bus garage
- Perform necessary route changes and updating of route copies/folders (including contracted routes not serviced at the bus garage)
- Assist with record keeping and filing, including mileage reports, fuel usage, mechanic work orders, etc.
- Maintain good working relationships with parents and school district personnel
- Answer department phone line and respond politely to all inquiries, maintaining a customer-friendly environment for both internal and external stakeholders
- Attend bus driver meetings and other meetings/seminars when applicable
- Model excellent attendance and on-time performance
- Must be available during off-duty hours for emergency "on-call" incidents
- Other dispatch duties as assigned
- Work with transportation employees and district administrators to develop and implement standards for the district wide transportation student conduct program
- Train employees in the proper procedures for student conduct
- Drive or ride bus routes to observe student behavior on routes for which concerns have been expressed
- Review video recordings and supply footage to schools as requested
- Communicate with administrators and/or parents regarding student conduct problems and potential disciplinary actions
- Maintain complete and accurate records regarding transportation student conduct
- Perform safety compliance evaluations of drivers and monitors as requested
- Other conduct/training duties as assigned
- Responsible for assisting in the routing process as directed by Coordinators and Supervisor
- Ability to utilize VersaTrans Software for routing, trip scheduling, GPS tracking, etc.
- Ability to update and maintain student data in various computer systems
- Interact with schools and parents regarding transportation data and student bus stops and bus routes
- Review and maintain bus stop change requests, daycare registrations, and other data maintenance
- Other routing duties as assigned
- Availability on an "on-call" basis when necessary to drive
- Knowledge of and trained in the use of all School Bus safety equipment
- Maintain and possess certification in First Aid and CPR
- Ability to model maintaining a safe and clean vehicle
- Maintain an annual driving evaluation and all district certifications
- Monitor student behavior; complete incident reports as needed
- Assist special needs students on and off the bus, including wheelchair securement
- Subject to mandatory and random DOT drug testing
- Other driving duties as assigned
