Nature of Position:
The School Based Mental Health Clinician will be familiar with the Adam’s 14 Public School District, understand the school professionals’ roles, able to identify the needs of students, understand child development and individual/family functioning, able to work with difficult to reach, traumatized, or disengaged individuals/families, and collaborate with other disciplines and community resources within schools and the community. This professional may need to periodically go into the client’s home to provide family based work to support school-based treatment.
- One full time High School position.
- One full time Elementary School position.
Qualifications:
1. A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, or from a regionally accredited college or university.
2. Must have the capability to register in DORA as Registered Psychotherapist, LMFT, LPCC, LPC, LSW, LCSW or licensed candidate.
3. Must have had a clinical internship and two years of clinical counseling work is preferred.
4. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to drive on behalf of the company.
5. Must pass a background check and drug screening.
6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
7. Able to work with sensitivity to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity of the agencies clients and staff.
Job Expectations/Responsibilities:
1. Provides a broad array of therapy services to adolescents, children, and their families that are referred by the school district, in a School Based setting
2. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with school/district professionals and staff.
3. Maintain contacts, as necessary, with all person/agencies that may have an effect upon child/family functioning in order to coordinate service delivery and develop resources to aid effective discharge planning.
4. Completes all paperwork required for client files per regulations and standards
5. Provides overall oversight of the mental health needs of all assigned students/families, makes recommendations, and follows up as necessary.
6. 80% of the time will be spent doing clinical work, 20% of the time will be spent doing care coordination with other school professionals.
7. Maintain a caseload of approximately 50 clients and/or approximately 90 clinical hours a month. Approximately 50% of client seen every other week, 25% seen weekly, 25% seen every 3 weeks.
Essential Functions:
1. Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
2. Lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds.
