Job Summary
The Utility Locator performs all technical duties in locating all City underground infrastructure. The job includes locating all City water, sewer, and storm water infrastructure, and City owned fiber and electrical lines for lights and signals. This is a split position with responsibilities in the Capital Improvement and Water/WPC/Street Divisions of the City’s Public Works Department.
The job requires knowledge of techniques and objectives including, but not limited to, hardware, software, database, and web and cellular/tablet access; and light equipment operation. The job also requires the knowledge of snow removal techniques during inclement weather. The job requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public
Physical Requirements
The Utility Locator position requires a Class A CDL with endorsements within six (6) months of hire date. Failure to acquire this certification by the established date will violate the terms of the position and will result in layoff from the position.
